ParlAmericas is an independent network composed of national legislatures of 35 states from North, Central, and South America, and the Caribbean. Members of ParlAmericas are committed to promoting parliamentary participation in the inter-American system. They are also engaged in developing inter-parliamentary dialogue on relevant hemispheric issues. Funcionarias y funcionarios parlamentarios y representantes de los mecanismos nacionales de género de las Américas y el Caribe se reunieron virtualmente el día de ayer en la 7ª Reunión de la Red de Funcionarias y Funcionarios Parlamentarios para la Igualdad de Género de ParlAmericas. La reunión se centró en las políticas de cuidado en los parlamentos nacionales e incluyó presentaciones sobre las consideraciones clave del trabajo parlamentario en materia de cuidados y creó un espacio de diálogo entre pares sobre iniciativas actuales y futuras. Las y los participantes fueron recibidos en la sesión por la senadora Carmen Gloria Aravena (Chile), primera vicepresidenta por Sudamérica de la Red Parlamentaria para la Igualdad de Género de ParlAmericas, y por Sulma Campos Mata, jefa de la Unidad Técnica para la Igualdad de Género del Senado de la República de México. Entre los aspectos más destacados de la sesión, se incluyó un panel de expertas con Ana Güezmes, directora de la División de Género de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe y Alejandra Mora Mora, secretaria ejecutiva de la Comisión Interamericana de Mujeres (CIM), moderado por Chantal La Roche, directora de Servicios Jurídicos Parlamentarios en el Parlamento de Trinidad y Tobago. El panel siguiente fue moderado por Haydeé Hernández Pérez, jefa de la Unidad Técnica de Igualdad y Equidad de Género de la Asamblea Legislativa de la República de Costa Rica y contó con las presentaciones de: ➡ Claudia Fuenzalida Cereceda, jefa de la Unidad de Planificación y Control de Gestión y encargada de Género del Senado de la República de Chile y Coordinadora Regional por Sudamérica de la Red de Funcionarias y Funcionarios Parlamentarios para la Igualdad de Género ➡ Gracielle Azeredo, analista legislativa e integrante del Comité Permanente para la Promoción de la Igualdad de Género y Raza y del Grupo de Trabajo sobre Afinidad Racial del Senado Federal de Brasil. ➡ Annie Carpentier, directora adjunta de Servicios de Recursos Humanos para los Miembros de la Cámara de los Comunes de Canadá. Parliamentary staff and representatives of national gender machineries from the Americas and the Caribbean met virtually yesterday for the 7th Meeting of the ParlAmericas Parliamentary Staff Network on Gender Equality. The meeting focused on care policies in national parliaments and featured presentations on key considerations for care-related parliamentary work and created space for peer-to-peer dialogue on current and forthcoming initiatives. Participants were welcomed to the meeting by Senator Carmen Gloria Aravena (Chile), First Vice-President – South America of the ParlAmericas Parliamentary Network for Gender Equality; and by Sulma Campos Mata, Head of the Technical Unit for Gender Equality at the Senate of Mexico. Highlights of the session included an expert panel with Ana Güezmes, Director of the Gender Division at ECLAC and Alejandra Mora Mora, Executive Secretary of the Inter-American Commission of Women (CIM), which was moderated by Chantal La Roche, Parliamentary Legal Services Director at the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago. Na semana passada, o ParlAmericas e o Senado Federal do Brasil organizaram a reunião conjunta da Rede de Funcionárias e Funcionários de Parlamento Aberto (RPA-Funcionárias/os) e da Rede de Funcionárias e Funcionários Parlamentares para a Igualdade de Gênero do ParlAmericas.
